Motorola has released Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update for their Moto X Play but if you want to add up some more cool features you should try one of these custom ROMs based on the latest Android software Marshmallow.
Moto X play devices have received official update (OTA) and it is all good but Custom ROMs like CM 13 allows you to further juice up your experience with Marshmallow. Our guide will provide you all the info about flashing these ROMs.
These Custom roms include tons of customizations and features among these CM13 ROM is completely AOSP based and an amazing ROM while others CAF, Marshmallux and Tesla have their own unique features. So let’s flash any of these ROMs to your Moto X and enhance your theming experience and also productivity of apps with root access.
The download links for these ROMs are provided below but before proceeding you should be aware of flashing custom ROM, it needs a rooted device with custom recovery CWM or TWRP installed. For beginners it may seem a bit difficult but for others it’s a piece of cake. Root your Moto X and install any of these CWM or TWRP recoveries to begin with installation.

This Guide is only for Motorola Moto X Play with code name (lux), Do Not try this on any other Variants with different Code Name or else you may brick your device. Custom ROM Flashing requires Root access and it Voids device warranty so do it on your own risk. We (Idroidblog.com) won’t be held responsible for any damage caused to your device.
* Root your Moto X play and install a custom recovery CWM or TWRP on it.
* Create a Backup of all your important data like Apps, Texts, Contacts, photos and other multimedia files. Use Custom Recovery to make Backup, it is safe and recommended.
* Make sure your device has enough charging, at least 60% to avoid power issues during flashing.
* Enable USB debugging mode in Settings > developers options, if developers options are disabled enable them in settings under about phone option tap build number for seven times to Enable developers options and then Enable USB debugging mode.
Steps to Follow
Step 1: Download the Custom ROM of your choice from the above link and also Gapps file.
Step 2: Now connect your device with PC using USB data cable and copy the files to your device SD card.
Step 3: Unplug your Smartphone and turn it off.
Step 4: Now boot it into Recovery mode … After rooting you can use Quick boot app to enter Recovery mode directly.
Step 5: Now in Recovery menu do a full wipe, System Cache, Dalvik Cache in TWRP. In CWM Recovery tap wipe data/factory reset and then confirm it. To wipe cache tap wipe cache partition.
Step 6: Tap install zip from SD card and then navigate for ROM zip file and Select it for Flashing in CWM.
Tap install option in TWRP choose ROM file and swipe to flash it.
Step 7: This will take a while, when done install Gapps zip the same way described in Step 6 for Rom file.
That’s it, you’re done with Flashing now go back to the main menu and Reboot your device. First boot up will take about 5 minutes so be patient and enjoy Marshmallow.
